Marinke Steenhuis' article 'Urban landscape design in the Interbellum. P. Verhagen (1882-1950), the forgotten modernity of a design approach' has been published in the June issue of the Quaderno del dottorato in Urbanistica, a book investigating 'the contemporary relation between Urbanism and a wide notion of landscape'. Steenhuis' article places the work of urbanist/landscape architect Pieter Verhagen in an international context by comparing him to Schumacher, Abercrombie and Prost. Their unique, but 'forgotten' approach to urbanism and landscape design built on the European tradition, by using its tools to address the task of the twentieth century: the encounter between urbanisation and the countryside.
